Breastfeeding now protected under Virginia law

Mothers in Virginia can now breastfeed their babies anywhere in the state.

Legislation passed both chambers of the General Assembly unanimously.

The bill was introduced after a woman in northern Virginia was asked to leave a gym after complaints about her breastfeeding.

Virginia was one of only three states - along with Idaho and South Dakota - without such a law on the books.
