Alpha Natural Resources deficient on stock exchange

Local coal provider Alpha Natural Resources could soon be taken off the New York Stock Exchange.

The reason is, its common stock does not currently satisfy one of the standards for continued listing and trading on the exchange.

All stocks need to be worth at least $1 when traded. Alpha Natural's value sits at just 99 cents.

The company plans to file intent to fix the deficiency and it has six months to do so.

The deficiency does not affect the company's normal business operations.
