School officials from 21 counties proposed projects to the SBA during a series of presentations in March.
The request list included:
♦ Berkeley County , $5.9 million for renovations to Martinsburg North Middle School
♦ Boone County , $1.7 million for improvements to Sherman Junior-Senior High School
♦ Cabell County , $3.5 million for additions and renovations at Culloden Elementary School
♦ Gilmer County , $10.9 million for a planned new consolidated Gilmer County Elementary School
♦ Harrison County , $8.1 million for a new Lumberport Middle School
♦ Jackson County , $15.6 million for a new Ravenswood Middle School
♦ Kanawha County , $1.9 million for additions and renovations at Andrews Heights Elementary School
♦ Lewis County , $3.1 million for an addition and renovations to the existing Jane Lew Elementary School
♦ Mason County , $6.6 million for a new Leon Elementary School
♦ Mercer County , $9.7 million for a new Green Valley Elementary School
♦ Mingo County , $8.6 million for an addition and renovations at Burch Middle School to turn it into a PK-8 grade facility
♦ Pendleton County , $9.2 million for the construction of a new Franklin Elementary School
♦ Pocahontas County, $8.5 million for renovations to Marlinton Elementary School, Hillsboro Elementary School, Green Bank Middle/High School and Marlinton Middle School
♦ Preston County , $4 million for a new West Preston Middle School
♦ Randolph County , $3.8 million for renovations at Tygart Valley Middle-High School
♦ Ritchie County , $4.5 million for upgrades at Harrisville Elementary School
♦ Wayne County , help with Crum Elementary School and Ceredo-Kenova Elementary School even though Wayne County voters rejected a school bond in December
♦ Webster County , $4.4 million for renovations at Webster County High School
♦ Wetzel County, $670,000 for improvements to Long Drain School, New Martinsville School, Paden City Elementary School and Short Line School
♦ Wood County , $2.6 million for additions and renovations to Edison Middle School
♦ Wyoming County , $1.25 million to complete the project budget for the new Huff Consolidated PK-8 School
In most cases, any SBA awards will be combined with local funds.
