West Virginia State Police arrested Ira Gares, 51, at his home on Jamie's Alley. He's originally from Holden.
Troopers say they acted on an anonymous tip that Gares was growing marijuana in his yard.
When they arrived, troopers say they found a total of 86 marijuana plants on the property. They say about half were growing in flower pots outside.
State police say they also found more than a dozen sick dogs at the home -- many of them malnourished and infected with disease.
Animal control officers removed 14 dogs and took them to the Logan County pound, according to state police.
Troopers say the total street value of marijuana found at Gares' home was about $250,000.
