ANSTED, W. Va– Two teenagers were taken into custody Tuesday in Fayette County after placing a false 911 call.
Dispatchers with the Fayette County 911 said they received a call around 2:30 a.m. stating that a pair of individuals were breaking windows and possible stealing items from a Shell station in the Ansted area.
Once police arrived on scene, they found that no windows had been broken at the business.
As they further investigated other businesses in the area they noticed two males fleeing on foot. Police pursued the pair and after a brief chase through several yards and a wooded area, the suspects were apprehended.
Jonathan D. Crist, 18, of Victor was charged with the misdemeanor offenses of obstructing a police officer and fleeing on foot.
Police said Crist admitted to them he and an accomplice made the false 911 call.
The accomplice was a 17-year-old from the area. Police released him to his parents. He is expected to be charged with several misdemeanor offenses.
Crist is being held at Southern Regional Jail on $1,000 bond.
