Mine Safety Trainer Sentenced
{Beckley, West Virginia}...Raymond C. Dawson of Raysal, mine safety trainer, was sentenced in federal court in Beckley Thursday to six months in prison and three years on supervised release after pleading guilty in May 2011 to a federal information accusing him of making false statements to federal investigators. He was charged with telling federal Mine Safety and Health Administration inspectors in November 2008 that he provided proper training to contract workers at Brooks Run Mining Co.s' Cucumber mine in McDowell County. Dawson was hired by Griffith Construction Co. to train employees, who provided construction and other services at the mine.
