Lincoln County Levy Passes

Residents in Lincoln County, West Virginia voted to pass a $17.8 million dollar levy Saturday.

That levy will provide just over $3.5 million dollars a year to area schools over the next 5 years.

Unofficial results show 1,153 people cast ballots for the levy, while 661 voted no. That translates to roughly 64% to 36%.

The multimillion dollar levy will provide money to fund teachers and staff, as well as fund text books, library materials, and transportation.

Just over 10% of registered voters showed up to cast ballots. That was lower than expected.

The new levy will go into effect July 1st, 2014.
