Man Charged with 30 Counts of Sexual Abuse of a Minor

A disturbance call at a home in Hurricane led police to charge a 45-year-old man with 30 counts of sexual abuse of a minor.

Hurricane Police said their investigation into the allegations began after an officer went to Richard Davis’ home on a battery complaint in June.

The officer says in the criminal complaint that he didn't find any evidence of a fight, but a 16 year-old girl at the house told him that Davis, 45, had been sexual abusing her since she was 13.

Police said that during a follow-up interview with Davis last month, he confessed to having sex with the girl on multiple occasions over the past 10 months.

According to criminal complaint, Davis also told the officer that he was in love with the victim, and that he considered her a “wife.”

Davis was booked in the Western Regional Jail.
