Firefighter Injured While Battling Mingo County Brush Fire

A firefighter is being treated for a broken bone he received while fighting a brush fire.

Crews say he was battling a brush fire in the Jenny's Creek area of Mingo County about 2 p.m. Monday when he fell.

The West Virginia Division of Forestry say the firefighter was taken to Three River's Medical Center in Louisa, Kentucky to be treated for a possible broken bone.

The Division of Forestry says the firefighter is a special registered crew leader that was working with the DOF, but is not an employee with the agency.

His name is not being released.
