Huntington councilmember submits resignation

A member of Huntington’s City Council has resigned.
Pete Gillespie submitted his resignation on Wednesday following his arrest last week on a charge of violating a home confinement order.
He’d been on home confinement since his August conviction on a misdemeanor domestic battery charge. He was arrested after several guns were found in his home — in violation of the order — and was being held in the Western Regional Jail.
Members of Huntington’s City Council had requested his resignation.

Applications are now being accepted from potential replacements for Gillespie in Huntington’s District Two.
