Extra Flu Precautions

Hospitals in the region are beginning to take precautions due to the widespread flu epidemic.

According to this week’s FluView Report, provided by the Center for Disease Control, flu activity is high and is expected to continue in the coming weeks, with increases occurring. The C.D.C. continues to recommend vaccination as long as flu viruses are circulating.

Hospitals such as Pikeville Medical Center and Logan Regional Medical Center are starting to use extra precautions for patients with the flu or flu-like symptoms.

Patients with flu-like symptoms must wear a mask while in the hospital, you will also be placed in an isolated room. Employees at P-M-C are highly recommended to get a flu shot and it is mandatory for the employees at Logan.
