Police Chase Stolen Car; Arrest Suspects At Motel

CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. -- A man wanted for attempted murder was arrested along with a woman following a police chase and some detective work.

Chapmanville Police say an officer tried to pull over a car with busted taillights about 9 p.m. Saturday but the driver would not pull over. The officer ran a plate check and discovered the car was stolen from Kentucky.

The car chase ended when two suspects jumped out of the stolen car and into the woods, according to police. Officers along with troopers, K-9's and sheriff's deputies in Logan County tried to track them down.

Police got a tip from a caller who told them the suspects were in Chapmanville are identified them as Mitchell Pope and Jealene Kistler, both of North Carolina.

A criminal history check later revealed they were both wanted in North Carolina, according to police. Police say Pope was wanted for attempted murder and Jealene was wanted for breaking and entering.

Police were given a tip after searching all night long that the pair had checked into the Roadway Inn at 8 a.m. Sunday. The Chapmanville Police Department with West Virginia State Police were able to arrest the two suspects.

Pope and Kistler are facing several charges and are in jail.
