Before buying merchandise online,
Attorney General Patrick Morrisey says consumers should be mindful of safe
practices for shopping online. That includes shopping at secure websites,
knowing the company you're ordering from, reading privacy policies and other conditions,
use a credit card, and always print and save receipts.
Morrisey also said the Federal Trade Commission
also requires companies who sell online to adhere to certain standards,
including shipping merchandise within the time promised or canceling your order
and returning your payment if the new shipping date cannot be met.
Anyone who feels they've been scammed
while shopping online, are encouraged to call the Attorney General's Consumer
Protection Division at (800) 368-8808.
