Man Facing Jail Time Regarding Laundry Detergent

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- A Huntington man could spend a year in jail all for allegedly stealing laundry detergent.

Stephen Marks, 33, of Huntington, is being charged with third-offense shoplifting and fleeing.

Marks took eight bags of Tide Pods and put them in a shopping bag and left the store without paying for the items, according to the complaint.

The items were stolen from a store on 1st Street and 6th Avenue in Huntington.

This is not the first time that Marks has been in trouble for shoplifting. According to the complaint, Marks has two prior shoplifting convictions on 11/5/12 and 11/26/03.

Now that Marks is facing a third charge of shoplifting -- he could spend one to 10 years in jail.
