More than one dozen people are behind bars in Johnson County
after a drug round up that officials say resulted from a three month
investigation.
They hit the streets early Thursday morning cracking down on
drug offenders.
"We're calling this 'Operation The Heat Is On' and again
we're giving the people who choose to stand on the wrong side of the fence
another wake up call," said Sheriff Dwayne Price.
Undercover investigations led to 10 indictments on various
charges including drug trafficking and manufacturing meth.
A handful of others were picked up on similar charges.
A total of 15 people are now facing 29 total charges.
Numbers from the Office of Drug Control Policy show these
roundups may be working.
There were 19 overdose deaths in Johnson County
in 2011 and only eight in 2012.
