Changes are coming to the Sissonvile library.
According to a news release,
Sissonville Library will reduce its hours of operations from 39 hours to 30.
The library will now be closed on Fridays and Sundays.
Director Alan Engelbert says the
library is unable to recruit replacements for the Sissonville staff, who
recently resigned, until a plan is in place to deal with the significant loss
of funding for 2014-2015.
“The reduction of hours at the
Sissonville Branch has nothing to do with the process of planning system-wide
reductions in library service, and no one should conclude that the Sissonville
Branch is going to be closed as part of this process," Engelbert said.
"This situation is happening because we had two staff members resign
there, and we cannot recruit replacements until we know what the plan is for
Sissonville."
Engelbert says the same thing can
happen at any branch or department anywhere in the KCPL system right now.
Under the new hours operation, the
