The repeated bitter cold and thawing out are causing rock slide
concerns all over our region.
One couple in Mingo
County got a
much-too-close look at how damaging that problem can be.
About 7:30 p.m. Monday, a mudslide behind Gerald and Gladys Ward’s
home on Brook Street
brought boulders rolling down the hill, colliding with their car and house.
The Williamson fire chief encouraged the couple to find another
place to stay, fearing more boulders may fall, but they're sticking it out for
now.
The Wards are waiting for an insurance adjuster to arrive and
assess the damage. They say they've been unable to reach the owner of the
property that's been sliding.
