The Wayne County Board of Education met to discuss the 2014-15
school calendar -- one possibly without spring break.
Board members had an informational
meeting about the calendar. School would start Aug. 5 and end May 27 to make
sure the 180 days are met.
There are 20 last resort make-up days
between May 29 and June 25.
Spring break is not sacred in this
calendar -- it can be taken away if needed.
There are also several four-day weeks
scheduled -- something parents say are tough on teachers and kids.
"Four-day weeks are hard on kids
and parents and teachers, and that's not just my opinion," parent Amanda
McComas said. "That's the opinions of other teachers and parents."
For anyone who didn't make it to
Tuesday's meeting, a similar meeting is scheduled at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 1.
It will take place at the school board office.
