Sandra Mullins, 50, pleaded guilty Monday in Kanawha Circuit Court to conspiracy. She is one of three Mingo County residents accused of participating in the robbery last fall of the Chase Bank in Charleston. Conspiracy carries a one to five-year prison term, but the state is recommending home confinement for Mullins as part of a plea deal. Sentencing is set Aug. 20.
Stephen Spires pleaded guilty to robbery in the case last week. Bernice White, who goes on trial Aug. 11, is being evaluated for mental competence.
Police said Spires robbed the bank while Mullins and White waited in the car. When police caught the group, they said, they found cash and a toy gun in the car. A new West Virginia State Police text system alerted troopers to the plate on the getaway vehicle.
