Former food bank director gets prison time

Cabell County Circuit Judge Alfred Ferguson told the former executive director of the Huntington Area Foodbank Friday she could no longer be trusted.
Ferguson sentenced Leigh Ann Zappin to 1-10 years in prison for stealing nearly $24,000 from the food bank while she was leading the operation.
“You should never be in a position of trust where you handle money,” Judge Ferguson said.
Zappin, 57, was originally indicted on 17 criminal counts. She eventually pleaded guilty to one count of embezzlement.
“I am saying you’ve got a character flow there and I understand that,” the judge told Zappin.

Zappin is scheduled to report to jail in November
