More Enterovirus Cases in W.Va.


Three more cases of Enterovirus D68 have been confirmed in West Virginia.

The three cases came from the 12 samples from nine counties that were sent away for testing last month.

Enterovirus is a respiratory illness with no specific treatment.

One of the three latest victims, was a five year old child, from Kanawha County, who has been treated and released from a hospital, according to a news release.

The other cases, involve a patient in Lincoln and Raleigh counties. Both health departments have been notified.

Parents should call their doctors if their children have any breathing problems.

Last month, four other cases were confirmed in West Virginia. All four of those cases involved children.
