Deadly shooting in McDowell County

A McDowell County man is in jail after allegedly shooting and killing another man .

McDowell County sheriff’s deputies say Wesley Payne 54, of War, was in an argument with Donald Baker 52, of Avondale, when the shooting occurred.

Deputies say Baker was shot once. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The shooting took place at Baker’s house. Police are continuing their investigation.
