Mining Deaths Increase in 2013


Coal mining deaths increased throughout the country in 2013.

The U.S. Department of Labor's Mine Safety and Health Administration released data saying 42 miners died, which is up from 36 in 2012.

They say the forth quarter of the year saw a significant spike, while the first three quarters were quiet.

West Virginia had the most coal mining deaths with six. Kentucky came in second with four.
