Layoffs in Southern West Virginia

HOLDEN, W.Va. (AP) - The owner of a hardwood flooring plant in southern West Virginia says it's laying off 47 workers.

Unilin notified workers at its Mingo County facility that the layoffs are effective January 1st. The facility at the Buck Harless Wood Products Industrial Park employs 182 workers.

The decision will align the plant's production with market demand for other products such as engineered wood, laminate, vinyl tile and ceramic wood planks.

The plant currently produces hardwood flooring for wholesale distribution.
Unilin is a division of flooring manufacturer Mohawk Industries Inc.
