W.VA. Fire Marshal Retires

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- West Virginia Fire Marshal Sterling Lewis Jr. has retired after serving in the position for 13 years.

The Fire Marshal's Office says Lewis' last day was Tuesday.

Chief Deputy State Fire Marshal Anthony Carrico has been named acting state fire marshal.

Lewis was appointed fire marshal by the state Fire Commission in 2000. He formerly was a driver education teacher at Shady Spring High School in Raleigh County and was chief of the Beaver Volunteer Fire Department.

Lewis served in the House of Delegates in 1983-84 and 1987-88.
