Huntington, WV tow truck drivers upset over newly-proposed policies

It was a big crowd at the Huntington, WV Public Safety Committee meeting Wednesday afternoon.
Committee members heard from tow truck business owners about changing policy.
They made their plea to the committee in last week's City Council meeting during the Good and Welfare portion about the proposal from Huntington Police Chief Skip Holbrook that makes changes to their work policy.
Owners say the policy is addressed every three years, but this time, they were not notified of any meeting or changes.
They say five companies now rotate for city towing, and the policy says any business that qualifies can work.
That could bring the number of drivers to seven, and they say it could cause them to lose money.

The committee agreed not to take any action until the policy is looked at by the city attorney.
