More college graduates in West Virginia are earning degrees in health-related fields.

The state's Higher Education Policy Commission says nearly 2,000 health-related degrees were awarded in West Virginia in 2012. That's more than any other degree and a 23 percent increase from 2008.

According to reports, about 1,700 students graduated with a degree in education, a decrease of more than 8 percent since 2008.

Business, management and marketing majors ranked third with about 1,600 degrees awarded last year.

Also at the top of the list for state graduates last year was a degree specifically designed for adult students that allows them to get college credit for "selected work and life experiences"

Those Regents bachelor of arts degrees rose 943 last year, a 32 percent increase over 2008.
