Pretrial hearing Wednesday in Tennis Maynard case

The man charged with killing Mingo County Sheriff Eugene Crum will be back in court Wednesday afternoon.
A pretrial motions hearing in the Tennis Maynard case is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. before Cabell County Circuit Judge Paul Farrell in Huntington.
The pretrial hearing was originally set to take place last month, but Kanawha County prosecutors wanted more time to review the case so the hearing was delayed.
Maynard, of Delbarton, has been in and out of the hospital since the shooting in April. On top of that Kanawha County Prosecutor Mark Plants was appointed special prosecutor last month replacing now former Mingo County Prosecutor Michael Sparks.
Maynard allegedly shot and killed Crum while he was eating lunch in his cruiser in a Williamson parking lot.
Plants said Tuesday the defense has filed no motions prior to the hearing in Huntington.

The trial is currently set for March 3, 2014.
