Filling the funding gap for Wayne County Schools is the idea
behind a school excess levy that has been in place for 50 years.
School officials were getting the word out Monday night, hoping
voters keep that levy in place for many years to come.
Wayne County Superintendent Lynn Hurt and the Board of Education
had a meeting Monday night at Buffalo
Elementary School . They
did so to make sure residents understand the levy and how crucial it is to keep
schools afloat.
It is important to note that, if passed, the levy would not
raise taxes. It would simply keep the current rate in place.
The levy will be on the ballot Nov. 23.
