W.Va. AG Warns About Mail Scam

Investigators with the West Virginia Attorney Generals Office are warning people about a scam involving a false promise of a financial windfall.

A woman in Wirt County reported that she received a notice in the mail saying she won four thousand dollars.

Here is the catch: to get the award she was required to advance half of that amount for a "handler's fee."

Anyone receiving such a mailing should call the Consumer Protection Division of the AG's office at 1-800-368-8808.
