Madison Creek Road In Logan Remains Closed Due To New Threats Of Slipping Hillside

Madison Creek Road in Logan County remained closed on Monday due to new threats of the slipping hillside.

On Friday, the West Virginia Division of Highways has issued an emergency closure of Madison Creek Road. The DOH had no estimate on Monday how long the road would be closed.

Crews are working to build a new portion of W.Va. Route 10, just above the road, and are concerned for the safety of motorists due to the slipping of the hillside and potential flooding.

In December a massive mudslide cut off Madison Creek Road from the surrounding area. People had to use ATVs and boats to get in and out while DOH crews worked to clean up the mess.

In January, a causeway crossing the Guyandotte River was completed to give people living in the area access to their homes during these types of closures.
