Today is tax day. If you're filing by mail, don't wait until the
last minute to go to the post office.
As of March 28, 91% of returns filed were done through e-file.
Because so many people use the internet to file, post offices will not be open
late on April 15. They will only be open during their regular business hours.
If you plan to file by mail, here's a few tips from the United
States Postal Service:
· If depositing returns in a blue collection box on Tuesday,
April 15, double-check the pick-up schedule on the label. To ensure getting the
April 15th postmark, deposit returns before the last scheduled pick-up time.
· Affix the appropriate postage, especially since the item may
weigh more than an ounce. The IRS will not pay postage due and your filings
will be returned if there is insufficient postage. The cost of a one-ounce
letter is $0.49.
