Kanawha County Commission President Kent Carper has released a
statement following WV Public Service Commission's order for West Virginia
American Water to continue participating in a series of local water extension
projects.
“I applauded the Public Service
Commission’s decision to make sure the water company stays in the water
business, these projects often serve our county’s most vulnerable citizen who
have no other means to acquire potable water besides through these projects”
said Commission President Kent Carper upon hearing the news. “Kanawha County
has at least three shovel ready water extension projects which we hope we will
see progress on very soon as a result of this ruling” he added.
Since 2000 the Kanawha County Regional
Development Authority has extended potable water service to 1,093 new customers
through public-private partnership projects with West Virginia American Water
Company.
