Results of Targeted Distracted Driving Enforcement Released


State Police in West Virginia, Kentucky and Ohio State kept their eyes on you to make sure you were keeping your eyes on the road.

It was all a part of week-long enforcement project that spanned 6 states called The 6-State Trooper Project. The states out of our region included Indiana, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.

According to numbers gathered by West Virginia State Police troopers issued more than 450 citations to drivers using their phones behind the wheel for texting or calls.

They also wrote close to 90 citations for careless and reckless driving.

Ohio wrote seven texting/cell phone citations and 764 careless, reckless driving citations.

In Kentucky there were 42 texting and cell phone citations and 111 citations for careless and reckless driving.

The targeted enforcement period spanned from July 20th to July 26th.
