Drowning Victim Identified

MINGO COUNTY, W.Va. -- West Virginia State Police say a body discovered in the river near Williamson is a man from Raleigh County, W.Va.

Kentucky State Police reported 37-year-old Steven Daniels, of Crab Orchard, missing on May 26.

Troopers say Daniels had been staying at motel in South Williamson, Ky., and was last seen on May 25.

W.Va. State Trooper Jeff Matheny says Daniels body was badly decomposed when it was pulled from the Tug Fork River on Saturday, June 1.

The body was found by two people who were out fishing.

There is no word on how Daniels died. On Sunday, troopers said they did not think foul play was involved.
