Pill mailer sentenced

A Florida man has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for mailing about 17,000 oxycodone pills to West Virginia.
Between October 2010 and April 2012, federal prosecutors said Ryan D. Moore, 32, of Hillsborough County, Fla., mailed packages of 30-milligram oxycodone tablets to people in the Mountain State.
In all, Moore sent more than 100 packages of oxycodone from U.S. post offices near Tampa, Fla. to a post office box in Glen Fork in Wyoming County along with a location in Calvin in Nicholas County.
In exchange for the drugs, at least $330,000 in cash was deposited into Moore’s bank accounts.
“When tens of thousands of painkillers are illegally mailed in just over a year’s time, it says something about the extent of this district’s pill problem,” said U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin.
“My office’s commitment to prosecutor pill dealers will continue.”

Three residents in Glen Fork and Calvin have already been sentenced for their roles in the scheme.
