LJHCC receives $5,000 grant for equipment

GILBERT — A West Virginia Congressman announced federal funding for a pair of community facilities to purchase new equipment.

U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall said that the Larry Joe Harless Community Center in Gilbert would receive $5,000 to be used to assist in the purchase of new treadmills.

The McDowell County Commission on Aging will receive a $15,000 grant awarded through USDA Rural Development’s Community Facilities Program to assist in the purchase and installation of a new HVAC system for its Welch location.

The USDA Rural Development’s Community Facilities Program helps finance community facilities for public use in rural areas, including child care centers, hospitals, medical clinics, fire, rescue and police stations, and other public buildings and transportation to ensure that such facilities are available to all rural residents.
