W.Va. group getting federal funding to expand substance abuse services, establish training

A West Virginia group is getting federal funding to help tackle substance abuse.

Sens. Jay Rockefeller and Joe Manchin and Rep. Nick Rahall announced the funding The Healing Place in Huntington on Wednesday.

The group is getting $250,000 to expand its substance abuse residential recovery services and establish a region-wide training program for peer mentoring.

The West Virginia congressional delegation says that expanding access to treatment services like The Healing Place is essential in addressing substance abuse.
