West Virginia officials to survey deer population throughout 36 counties in August

West Virginia officials are conducting spotlight surveys to evaluate deer population densities in August.
The Division of Natural Resources Wildlife Resources Section is doing the surveys throughout 36 counties.

Surveys will involve sighting deer along randomly selected roads by searching nearby fields and woods with spotlights.

Officials say the surveys will not involve the collection of live or dead animals and will not involve personnel entering onto private property.

The surveys are expected to be completed by mid-September.
