Fire Chief Dies in Poker Run

They came together to pray for their chief's survival, but after Eleanor VFD Chief Shane Jividen's death, his fellow firefighters spent an evening praying for his family and for each other.

Jividen, 36, was riding in a poker run to raise money for Webster County's fire departments on Saturday. Putnam County Sheriff Steve Deweese said no one saw the crash happen, but Jividen was driving a four-wheeler that rolled over and ended up in a ditch.

Jividen was taken by helicopter to C.A.M.C. in Charleston, where he died just after 6 p.m. Sunday.

Jividen's fellow firefighters said he will be given a full firefighter's burial.
