United Mine Workers rally in Racine, WV

The annual United Mine Workers of America Labor Day Rally is a Labor Day tradition in Boone County, West Virginia that has been going on for 75 years.

The event is hosted at a park in Racine.

Coal miners from many parts of West Virginia attend with their families.

Some at the event this year said the industry isn't thriving as much as it once did. But the roots of the industry run deep in the Mountain State.

"Technology has reduced a lot of jobs," said Roger Giles, who started mining coal in 1974. "The new generation, the jobs wont be as plentiful."

The rally included music and several speakers along with words from political figures.
