The annual United Mine Workers of America Labor Day Rally is a Labor Day tradition in Boone County , West Virginia that has been going on for 75 years.
The event is hosted at a park inRacine .
Coal miners from many parts ofWest Virginia attend with their families.
Some at the event this year said the industry isn't thriving as much as it once did. But the roots of the industry run deep in theMountain State .
"Technology has reduced a lot of jobs," said Roger Giles, who started mining coal in 1974. "The new generation, the jobs wont be as plentiful."
