Twenty-seven new State Police Troopers who graduated from the
The graduates have their assignments and are ready to go. They will first be on a probationary period with more experienced troopers and then out on their own.
“I’ve heard nothing but good things about this class,” State Police spokesman Lt. Michael Baylous said. “They are very mature, professional and they have good life experiences they bring to the table.”
Baylous said it’s those life experiences that make a good trooper along with a solid foundation of values.
The 64th Cadet Class is the second graduating class in recent months. Lt. Baylous said he’s noticed a younger trend to the State Police ranks and that’s okay.
“It’s a difficult and demanding job and the older you get it’s a little harder to be able to perform those duties every day,” he said.
The State Police is hopeful there will be continued support from the governor and legislature to fund future cadet classes.
“We have been fortunate we’ve been able to put a couple of classes out here recently,” Lt. Baylous said.
