Man Charged With Assaulting Officer


{Charleston, West Virginia}…Charleston Police conducted a traffic stop early Saturday morning after the driver of a vehicle allegedly ran a light on MacCorkle Avenue. While conducting a field sobriety test on the driver, the passenger, Mitchell Copen, began yelling at the officer, and, when the officer tried to arrest Copen he tried to hit the officer and take his gun. The driver then stepped in and helped the officer arrest Copen. Once in the back of the cruiser, police say Copen climbed out the window of the police car and had to be recaptured. Copen faces numerous charges including battery on a police officer and attempting to disarm an officer.
