Former bank executive sentenced to prison for embezzlement

CHARLESTON, W.Va.A former Charleston-based Chase Bank executive is heading to prison for embezzlement.
According to a release from U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin’s Office, Mark Alan McCoy, 46, of Charleston, was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court to three years in federal prison.
Between November 30, 2009 until April 19, 2012, McCoy stole more than $500,000 belonging to Chase Bank from approximately nine separate personal and corporate bank clients’ accounts, stated the release.
During that period McCoy was employed as the Charleston branch vice president of private client banking services at the bank’s Charleston branch.
The release said that in total, McCoy took approximately $532,395.59 from the bank. However, after accounting for funds that the defendant deposited into client accounts and other funds that the bank was able to recover, the actual loss was $447,784.45.
The Court also ordered McCoy to pay the $447,784.45 in restitution.

McCoy pleaded guilty in March to embezzlement by a bank officer.
