PAW PAW, W.Va.
— A West Virginia resort
will be part of a national effort this weekend to break a world record, au
natural. Avalon Resort in Berkeley County
will be part of a national effort to set the world skinny dipping record.
“We’re tryinig to get as many
people in to the outdoor pool as we can possibly squeeze in,” said resort COO
John Kennedy.
The only requirement is you must be
without apparell. Across the country other nudist resorts who are part of the
American Association of Nude Recreationists will also participate at the
same time. The numbers from each will be compiled to determine if it meets
world record levels. Avalon was part of the standing world record set in 2010
when a total of 14,110 people jumped in the water naked at the same time.
Avalon had 242 in their pool in the event.
Avalon is a “clothing optional”
resort. Kennedy said the idea is to turn the weekend into an open house and
introduce people to life without inhibitions. But he adds, there’s no pressure
to completely disrobe.
“It’s a clothing optional resort, so it’s up to you if you want
to be nude or not.” he said. “Normally the first time if they’re a little bit
concerned it takes them a little bit of time to get comfortable.
Sometimes it takes a day and sometimes it takes 20 minutes.”
