Road Through Chief Logan Park Considered

{Logan, West Virginia}…The Division of Highways wants to build a road through Chief Logan State Park that would connect the lodge to the park's original section, but some residents say it would increase the flow of traffic, making it unsafe for hikers and bicyclists. Division of Highways spokesman Brent Walker says one existing roadway is about 10 miles from the lodge, and another is about 16 miles away, so a new road would allow lodge guests easier access to the original 3,303-acre park. The DOH is looking at five alternatives ranging in cost from $9.4 million to $18.4 million. Walker says the preferred option would cost about $10 million.
