Sheriff Murder Suspect Could be Hospitalized Two More Weeks or Longer

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- The medical condition of the man accused of murdering the Mingo County Sheriff continues to improve.

Tennis Maynard, however, could spend another six to 10 days in the hospital, Mingo County Prosecutor Michael Sparks said.

Maynard was shot in the liver after members of law enforcement say he fled the scene of the murder and led them on a chase. Mingo County Sheriff Eugene Crum died in the shooting on Wednesday, April 3.

Maynard's hospital stay could be as long as two weeks or longer. He is a patient at Cabell Huntington Hospital.
