Troopers Discover Meth Lab Inside Lunch Box

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. – Troopers say they found all the materials needed to make meth inside a lunch box Friday night.

According to the criminal complaint, troopers pulled over Joseph D. Haynes, 38, on Falcon Dr. in Charleston after Haynes ran his truck off the road. They say Haynes did not have the correct registration or have his drivers license when he was stopped.

During a search, troopers discovered a lunch box in the bed of the truck that contained meth making materials, including a gas generator.

Troopers say Haynes told them he saw one of his passengers, Christopher M. Cranfield, 28, put the lunch box in the truck’s bed.

Troopers say Cranfield and a third passenger, Jennifer G. Pitts, 31, denied the lunch box belonged to either of them.

All three were taken to South Central Regional Jail.

They face several charges including attempting to operate a meth lab and conspiracy.
