Work Release Escapee Captured in Cabell County

CABELL COUNTY, W.Va. -- A work release inmate from the Boyd County Detention Center is back in jail.

Michael Meadows, 24, took off Saturday while working at a church on Carter Avenue in Ashland. Meadows was helping clean up after a pancake breakfast.

Meadows was booked in the Western Regional Jail Monday night.

Meadows was arrested by Huntington Police after they received information that he was staying at a residence on West 6th Avenue.

According to the police report, when officers went to the residence, Meadows ran out the back door. Officers were able to arrest Meadow following a short foot chase.

Meadows is currently being held in Cabell County on a fugitive from justice warrant. He was serving time in Boyd County for second-degree disorderly conduct.

Meadows only had a couple months left in jail. Now he could end up spending another year behind bars.
