Deputies
with the Boone County Sheriff's Department said Wednesday to be on the lookout
for a scam that is being reported there.
Chief Deputy Chad Barker said their office has received several
reports of a telephone scam in which the caller says you are late paying your
electric bill. The scammer then says if you don't pay immediately over
the phone, your electric will be shut off.
Barker said to never give any credit card information over the
phone. If you have any questions about your bill, call the official
American Electric Power telephone number.
